The Stansted Three

It was 2008 and The Willows were off on tour this time to Portugal. As usual, the flight from Stansted was at the crack of dawn. The flight was called and everyone downed their drinks and started to make their way to the departure gate. Except……..that is………the last three members……………………

Despite having four days of wall to wall drinking to look forward to, well they just had to have another one, just one more!

Once they eventually made it onto the transit train to go to the satellite , a row broke out as to which of the two stops they should get off. They chose the second stop which was……….the incorrect option. They had no choice but to return to the terminal where they had to “technically re-enter the UK”.

We all sat on the plane along with dozens of irate passengers who were delayed, watching 3 suitcases and 3 sets of clubs being taken off.

A cab ride around the M25 to Gatwick followed and they arrived in Lagos later that day with their pockets somewhat lighter.

Thereafter, Dave Bonnor, Mick Cullivan & Keith Spurdens were forever to be known as

                                                                     “THE STANSTED THREE"
